BAC Education Group clinches win for data analytics approach

Its data provides critical insights to allow for a data-driven decision making culture.

BAC Education Group took home the win in the Online Services - Education category at the recently held Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards for its effective use of data analytics to drive efficiency, effectiveness, and performance to benefit its organisation.

Its data analytics efforts have helped audits from educational regulatory bodies, where it is able to collate data such as class size, lecturer to student ratio, and resource tracking to ensure that sufficient allocation of physical spaces for classes. All this information is essential for audit submission and compliance.

BAC is also leveraging data analytics to provide targeted support for students who are not performing well in their assignments or exams. Extracting data from exam and assignment results enables the company to identify students that need extra help and determine areas they need to focus on to improve their academic performance.

Moreover, it can also determine the areas of study, skillset, and qualifications that are in demand in the industry and provide students with the information they need to find suitable job opportunities. This comes amidst the extension of the data analytics capabilities to internal job portals.

BAC has also successfully used data-driven decision-making in tracking and measuring its marketing and advertising efforts. The integration of data from its sales team allows BAC to determine the return on investment of its advertising and trace it back to the leads received and students recruited. This allows the company to identify the most effective channels for lead generation and student recruitment, control expenses, and make data-driven decisions.

Similarly, BAC’s data analytics approach fosters a more collaborative culture by enhancing departmental communication. It believes that data analytics play a crucial role in the data integration of various departments.

Through streamlining data from its technology stack, the company has produced cross-departmental and cross-functional reports, made informed decisions, identified growth opportunities, and ensured accurate, consistent, and secure data.

“By combining data from different departments, we are able to gain a holistic view of our organisation's performance, which helps our management and other stakeholders make data-driven decisions that enhance the learning experience of our students and prepare them for successful careers in the digital era,” said Jennifer Low, Chief Digital Officer of the BAC Education Group.
