Western Digital wins Malaysia User Experience of the Year - Technology in Asian Experience Awards 2022

The company’s data analytics and machine learning platform aims to deliver a positive employee experience and allow for consistent data interpretation capabilities.

Technology firm Western Digital has earned a major accolade at the recently held Asian Experience Awards with the Malaysia User Experience of the Year - Technology award for its visionary data analytics and machine learning platform.

The platform was developed by Western Digital’s firmware organisation to enable the digital transformation of previously manual processes. It aims to provide a collaboration platform that delivers a positive employee experience and allows for consistent data interpretation capabilities.

A data analytics and machine learning platform designed to improve efficiency and productivity, it enables the organisation to be data-conscious by easing the data retrieval and analysis process. Its vision is to transform data into information and insights via machine learning and AI, contributing to the organisation’s knowledge pool.

It uses a state-of-the-art high-availability, event-based microservice architecture. Its underlying service application programming interfaces are well-defined and can be accessed by any authenticated third party to allow different services to be developed and deployed independently.

To enhance the user experience, the platform includes searches, wizard workflow, recommendations based on user behaviour and the ability to expand documentation. Most of these dashboards are fully customisable to provide a unique and seamless experience for every user.

The platform first demonstrated its value by reducing a 15-18-hour task to a single mouse click. Its ability to generate real-time knowledge – by combining multiple data sources, processing them into useful information via charts and tables, and then transforming these into knowledge where priorities and impact can be identified – enabled Western Digital to make instant and informed decisions.

Today, the platform is used by firmware engineers of all functional groups, managers, architects, and executives. In addition, other organisations are making decisions based on insights and knowledge from the platform.
Western Digital strives to ignite the digital transformation of the organisation by cultivating data-conscious teams to allow it to make the best possible decisions.

“Looking ahead, we are working to incorporate AI analysis to dynamically create test plans for different parameters, which today is a manual process. The new AI feature will enable this to be done automatically in the background, using months of historical data to derive the best possible test plan with validation and results thoroughly analysed,” the company said.
