PT Pertamina EP Cepu Regional East Indonesia earns top employee engagement honour at Asian Management Excellence Awards 2026
The company deepened employee involvement through structured community engagement and knowledge-sharing activities.
PT Pertamina EP Cepu Regional East Indonesia received an accolade in the Employee Engagement of the Year - Oil & Gas category at the Asian Management Excellence Awards 2026 in Indonesia for its NAWASHAKTI employee volunteerism programme.
The recognition reflects the programme’s consistent implementation and its role in strengthening employee participation through direct involvement in education, social outreach, and environmental activities within communities near the company’s operational areas.
NAWASHAKTI was introduced in 2023 as a structured employee volunteerism programme. It established a formal mechanism through which employees could take part in non-operational activities linked to community and environmental needs. The programme operated on an annual cycle, allowing activities to be planned in advance and carried out with consistency rather than as isolated initiatives.
Activities were conducted across several regions, notably Bojonegoro Regency in East Java and Sorong Regency in West Papua. Schools in these areas, including those located in remote settings, served as the primary sites for programme delivery in 2025. Educational content covered a range of subjects, from basic explanations of oil and gas business processes to waste management practices, interactive English lessons, and anti-bullying awareness. Classroom sessions were supplemented with structured games used as learning tools rather than recreational activities.
Records showed participation from more than 600 employees over a three-year period. Engagement extended to over 1,000 students within communities surrounding the company’s operations. The programme also provided opportunities for employees from different functions to work together outside standard reporting lines. Exposure to varied working environments contributed to the development of communication and coordination skills through direct interaction with students, teachers, and local representatives.
A further component involved a live-in activity within the Malasigi indigenous community in Southwest Papua. Employees stayed in the village for the duration of the programme segment. This arrangement allowed direct observation of local living conditions and social practices. The experience provided contextual insight into community dynamics within the operational region and informed employee understanding of social and environmental considerations relevant to those areas.
