Antibiotics market to grow by $18.22b by 2029

Key drivers include strategic alliances and mergers amongst pharmaceutical firms.

The global antibiotics market is projected to rise by $18.22b until 2029 at a compound annual growth rate of over 5.9%, said Technavio.

The sector’s expansion is attributed to the increasing prevalence of infectious diseases, particularly bacterial infections caused by pathogenic and multi-drug resistant strains.

“Antibacterial drugs, such as broad-spectrum and narrow-spectrum antibiotics, are in high demand to combat these bacterial strains,” the report said.

Moreover, it is driven by strategic alliances, mergers, and acquisitions amongst pharmaceutical firms aiming to strengthen product portfolios and expand market presence.

Companies are increasing investments in research and development to introduce new antibacterial drugs targeting gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
