The Medical City Iloilo wins at the Asian Innovation Excellence Awards 2025 for healthcare innovation

The hospital was recognised for redefining emergency healthcare delivery and nurturing a culture of patient partnership that empowers both staff and patients.

The Medical City Iloilo received two distinctions at the Asian Innovation Excellence Awards 2025, taking home the Philippines Business Service Innovation of the Year - Healthcare and Philippines Culture Innovation of the Year - Healthcare awards. These honours highlight the hospital’s efforts to improve healthcare systems and strengthen its people-focused culture in Western Visayas.

Bringing emergency care closer to every community

The Medical City Iloilo was recognised in the Philippines Business Service Innovation of the Year - Healthcare category for its Emergency Medical Services (EMS): At Your Service Anytime, Anywhere initiative, the first hospital-based EMS in Iloilo. The programme offers round-the-clock access to trained responders through hotline 33-80808. Each ambulance is fitted with medical equipment for quick triage, stabilisation, and safe transport.

The EMS team also delivers training in workplaces and communities on first aid, trauma care, and basic life support. Since its launch, the service has responded to more than 300 cases in Iloilo, Guimaras, Aklan, and Negros.

Recognising a culture of care and commitment

The hospital was also recognised with the Philippines Culture Innovation of the Year - Healthcare category for its Excellent Patient Experience: Our Pride and Purpose initiative. The initiative acknowledges staff who show consistent dedication to patient partnership. The programme is based on feedback collected through the Fresh Desk Survey application.

Activities during the celebration include storytelling sessions, wellness booths, and recognition events that highlight patient and staff interaction. The hospital maintains a 99% to 100% Net Promoter Score (NPS) and Patient Experience Rating (PER).

The Asian Innovation Excellence Awards honours companies that achieve measurable outcomes and address key challenges through innovation and operational improvement, recognising initiatives that drive meaningful progress across diverse industries in the region.
