GlobalData says 41.9% see green insurance as essential
Meanwhile, 30.5% said such products are not essential.
Over two in five insurance industry professionals believe it is essential for insurers to offer environmentally friendly products, according to GlobalData.
A Q3 2025 poll of more than 100 industry respondents found that 41.9% said green insurance products are very important, whilst 16.2% considered them moderately important.
Meanwhile, 30.5% said such products are not essential.
GlobalData’s 2024 consumer survey showed that 51.3% of respondents believe insurers have a role in tackling climate change, and 59.1% would pay more for a policy from a company with strong environmental commitments.
About 29.6% would pay up to 5% more.
Analysts said offering green products could also help insurers manage climate-related risks, as extreme weather events such as floods and wildfires drive up claims.
Examples include discounts for energy-efficient homes and cars or for using sustainable building materials.
Regulatory pressure is also growing, with governments requiring more ESG compliance and disclosures.
Insurers with credible environmental practices could strengthen their reputation, build trust with customers, and justify higher premiums.
