Cursor names Simon Green APJ president, designates Singapore regional HQ
AI coding firm to expand APJ operations and hiring from SG base.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) coding company Cursor has appointed Simon Green as president for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), with Singapore set to serve as its regional headquarters as the company expands across the region.
In a statement, Cursor said Green will lead the company’s go-to-market organisation in APJ and oversee expansion across markets including Japan, Australia and New Zealand, Korea, India, and Indonesia. He will also be responsible for building out its regional team and hiring from Singapore.
Green brings more than two decades of experience across cybersecurity, cloud, and enterprise infrastructure in the APJ region. He previously served as president for Japan and Asia Pacific at cybersecurity company Palo Alto Networks. Earlier roles include chief operating officer at Australian data-centre firm Interactive and senior leadership positions at NetApp, where he was senior vice president and general manager for Asia Pacific.
According to Green, AI is increasingly central to how organisations operate.
“AI is rapidly becoming core to how organisations operate and grow,” he said, adding that APJ presents opportunities for businesses and governments to apply AI to modernise systems and improve services.
Green said he was drawn to Cursor’s focus on software development. “Cursor is changing how software gets created across industries,” he said, adding that the APJ strategy will focus on building teams close to customers.
Brian McCarthy, president of global revenue and field operations at Cursor, said that Green’s appointment will support the company’s expansion as demand for AI software development tools grows across the region.
The company has also begun strengthening its regional leadership bench and recently appointed Pete Short to oversee its Australia and New Zealand operations.
Green will also continue to serve as an advisor to KKR Asia Growth Fund and as a board member of Bausele Watch Company.
