RAFI Microfinance bags Philippines Technology Excellence Awards with transformative mobile app

KaagAPPay unlocks access to the formal financial system and transformative power of microfinance.

Social development organisation RAFI Microfinance was recognised as the winner of the  Philippines Technology Excellence Awards in the Fintech - Financial Services category for its KaagAPPay mobile application designed to empower clients and to address operational challenges.

KaagAPPay improves the experience for both RAFI Microfinance clients and staff, by allowing the former to manage their loans and tract with the latter through self-service services from anywhere, without needing to visit a branch. This frees up the company’s staff to focus on providing better customer service and building relationships with clients.

The app’s user-friendly interface and improved service delivery has strengthened client loyalty, leading to higher retention rates. Turnaround times for core processes are significantly reduced, whilst manual forms have been replaced with in-app features, leading to substantial cost reductions whilst maintaining effective communication.

Meanwhile, the secured and transparent transactions offered by KaagAPPay also minimises the risk of staff-related fraud.

Utilising KaagAPPay helps RAFI Microfinance process loans faster, translating to quicker access to capital for clients. Expanding the reach of the tool also fosters financial inclusion within the community.

The app has reached more than 75,000 app registrations by the end of 2024, achieving an outstanding client satisfaction rating of 4.5 out of 5. It has also been implemented to all 308 branches of RAFI Microfinance.

At the same time, the company has also been able to save costs on SMS by providing in-app notifications instead of paying SMS with a telecom provider.
