Chinese travelers' search for int'l stay doubles for upcoming Golden Week

The second Golden Week of the year will commence from 1 to 7 October.

Agoda has reported a 137% year-over-year (YoY) rise in international accommodation searches from China for the upcoming Golden Week. 

Based on Agoda’s accommodation search data, the top five outbound destinations for this year were Seoul, Tokyo, Bali, Bangkok, and Osaka, respectively. 

"The increase in outbound travel searches for China's Golden Week suggests a growing confidence among Chinese citizens to explore international travel,” said Andrew Smith, Senior Vice President of Supply at Agoda. 

In 2023, the top five outbound destinations were Tokyo, Seoul, Osaka, Kyoto, and Bangkok, respectively.

Golden Weeks are celebrated twice a year in China, around Lunar New Year and China's National Day.
