Star Media Group hailed at Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards 2026 for AI-driven lifecycle automation

It has transformed news consumption from traditional broadcast-style communication into an interactive experience.

Integrated media company Star Media Group received the Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards 2026 in the Automation - Media & Entertainment category for its success in moving beyond traditional broadcast-style communication and into artificial intelligence (AI)-driven, hyper-personalised lifecycle automation.

As part of this undertaking, Star Media Group has implemented over 15 automated touchpoints powered by dynamic segmentation, zero-party data enrichment, and AI and machine learning-driven delivery optimisation instead of relying on static campaigns and manual newsletter deployments.

This capability has been enabled by an agentic marketing platform (AMP) through its partnership with marketing technology company Netcore. The AMP-powered surveys for profile enrichment have introduced an innovative zero-party data strategy, enabling real-time audience intelligence. Rich push notifications, carousel app engagements, and localised behavioural targeting have transformed passive news consumption into interactive, intent-led experiences.

“The solution is built on dynamic segmentation and real-time orchestration, allowing engagement to adapt instantly to reader behaviour, preferences, and subscription status. Automated lifecycle journeys continuously optimise performance without manual intervention,” the company said.

Star Media Group has delivered a 60% uplift in click-through rates across its digital channels. Highly localised campaigns have also performed exceptionally well, generating up to 50 times higher click rates than standard campaigns, whilst rich push notifications have outperformed traditional APNs with a 16% increase in engagement. Additionally, newsletter deployment has become 40% more efficient.

At the same time, the initiative has strengthened advertiser return on investment, increased daily active readers, and improved engagement quality across web and app properties. Leadership feedback has also confirmed improved conversions, enhanced engagement, and elevated digital performance across channels.

“The flexible architecture enables Star Media Group to scale personalisation across new content verticals and evolving reader behaviours — ensuring sustained growth in a fast-moving digital media landscape," the company said.
