Share Your Feelings: Floward’s utilisation of QR codes for personalised products

The special feature embeds videos or hyperlinks in the cards that come with the gift to deliver messages to loved ones.

Customer experience is an essential factor in any business. Keeping the customers satisfied will bring better opportunities for companies that hope to thrive in the market.

With this, Floward, the go-to online flowers and gifts delivery destination in MENA and the UK has developed a special feature in its products that provides interactivity and personalisation. The “Share Your Feelings” feature uses the QR code technology to embed videos in the cards that come with the gifts and flower arrangements.

The feature aims to add a “wow factor” to all the arrangements and gifts Floward has in its line, whilst bringing people closer to each other in the countries where it operates. “Share Your Feelings” also adds a thoughtful aspect to gift-giving, and it has brought a lot of people together during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic as people could not see each other.

The process is simple and hassle-free. Floward users can easily film their own personal ten-second video messages using Floward’s iOS or Android app, or they could add any video link which will be converted into a QR code that can be linked, generated, and printed in a matter of milliseconds.

The company will, in turn, save the recorded videos into cloud storage by encrypting its content and keeping the reference in its databases. The system will later generate a unique link to the specific video with a secure token.

Floward has also provided its operations agents with a custom secure desktop print app in each operation centre to automatically generate and print the QR code on the card message. The card is then attached to the gift and delivered to receivers, who will scan the code and easily enjoy a more personalised message from their loved ones. The same process is repeated should the sender opt to send a YouTube or SoundCloud clip instead.

“Share Your Feelings” met positive feedback and huge excitement on its first launch as it was truly an unheard-of technology, and it continues to be a massive hit amongst Floward customers. Over 90% of its users utilise the special feature.

Floward has been recognised by the Middle East Technology Excellence Awards for the uniqueness and innovation of this special feature. The company brought home the win in the E-Commerce - Retail category.

The prestigious awards programme honours outstanding companies in the region that made exceptional contributions in pursuit of technological innovation in their respective industries.
