Looking into the synergistic success of SB Finance

The company has successfully introduced groundbreaking initiatives and achieved several milestones in the few years it has been founded.

With many Filipinos in need of financial assistance, the loan industry in the Philippines became robust, reaching US$212b in 2023.

This has not only presented a lucrative business for corporations but also a great opportunity to cater to a growing demand for easy, secure, and reliable consumer financing solutions. The challenge lies, however, in differentiating the brand and presenting unique and innovative offerings that truly understand the concerns of the market.

This is the case of SB Finance, a company launched through a partnership between Thailand’s Krungsri (Bank of Ayudhya) and the Philippines’ Security Bank. Formally launched in 2020, SB Finance offers a menu of loan products that address the varying needs of Filipino consumers.

Amongst these products is eSALAD, a salary advance loan for employees of accredited companies, offering financial assistance for unexpected expenses ahead of the crediting of employees’ salaries. SB Finance also features MotorsikLOAN, a loan product catered to those who are in need of financial assistance to acquire a two-wheeled motor vehicle for business or personal use. Meanwhile, Car4Cash is a loan product that allows car owners to avail of a loan through their vehicle’s registration documents. For everything else, there’s Personal Loan, a multi-purpose financing option.

These products are meant to provide access to those who would otherwise resort to informal lenders. The majority of lower-income Filipinos usually go to informal lenders or loan sharks who do not ask for many requirements for loans to get approved. Since some of these lenders are unregulated and unlicensed, the borrowers' security is put at risk by being subjected to high-interest rates, unfair collection practices, and risk of data breaches.

Since SB Finance’s loan products have been specifically developed according to the needs of different markets, the company effectively becomes an indispensable partner in the average Filipino’s financial journey, assisting them every step of the way as they cultivate their path to financial wellness.

With the expertise of SB Finance’s senior management team in the industry, the company has been able to harness the partnership between its parent companies—two formidable industry entities—to create the utmost positive impact. The company’s strong group of leaders and talents working together has enabled it to break into the Philippine market successfully and record exponential growth. This major feat has been acknowledged by the inaugural Asian Management Excellence Awards as SB Finance clinches the Philippines Team of the Year - Financial Services.

“SB Finance has made it its mission to help more Filipinos make better financial decisions, coupled with the company’s vision to be the country’s preferred financial service provider,” SB Finance CEO Abigail Dans-Casanova said.

The esteemed awards programme celebrates the finest business leaders, innovators, and companies in Asia and commends exceptional achievements in the various aspects of operations, including employee engagement programmes, diversity and inclusion projects, and health and wellness initiatives.
