Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison lauded at Asian Management Excellence Awards

The Company recorded a strong performance for 2023 despite undergoing a merger.

Telecommunications provider Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison won two major accolades at the recently held Asian Management Excellence Awards for its strong performance in the past year, brought by the strong and visionary leadership of its CEO Vikram Sinha and the unique approach of its Corporate Communications team that became pivotal in the company’s strategic transformation.

This comes amidst the successful merger of Indosat Ooredoo and Hutchison Tri Indonesia. The Corporate Communications team strategically crafted a narrative highlighting benefits for customers and emphasising the positive national impact.

The narrative, reinforced through brand building and media relations, has instilled pride and confidence in the merger, aligning with national interests and contributing to economic growth. The team has also initiated a transformative social contribution programme, aiming for shared value.

Whilst most telco mergers often fail for reasons such as difficulty integrating different technologies and systems, regulatory hurdles, and challenges in retaining key personnel and customers, Indosat’s successful merger has transformed the telecommunications industry and Indonesia's GDP growth.

Indosat’s merger under the leadership of Sinha has delivered numerous benefits for all stakeholders extending to 20 months after the completion of the business venture.

Through Sinha’s strong guidance, Indosat’s total revenue grew 8.5% YoY to US$2.4b in the third quarter of 2023. This strong revenue growth was contributed by the positive performance of all the company's business lines.

With its fully integrated network, the company now focusses on maximising the strength of its frequency spectrum, wider network coverage, and faster internet experience to continue unlocking potential in communities, especially in rural parts of Indonesia.

Sinha has also been spearheading Indosat’s groundbreaking corporate social responsibility initiatives, which include bridging digital divide by creating Indonesia’s digital talents through SheHacks and IDCamp, which empowers more than 290,000 youths combined since 2019.

The Corporate Communications team, in turn, extended the beneficiaries of the IDCamp programme, offering scholarships and intensive training to retailers' children, cultivating skilled software developers. This initiative not only created independent developers but also generated future job opportunities, embodying the company's commitment to community growth and empowerment.

It also took the initiative to continue the spirit of collaboration by introducing the Indosat Marvelous Xperience Center, a co-creation hub in the form of a state-of-the-art showcase that embraces an all-digital concept.

It provides an impressive experience for visitors to see and enjoy the cutting-edge technology from Indosat and its strategic partners, including products, services, and applications, as well as globally and strategically partnered products and services targeted towards retail and business-to-business segments.

The presence of this facility is expected to offer a world-class digital experience to the public by leveraging the latest technologies such as 5G, AI, IoT, and more, to drive the transformation of Indonesia's industries.

“This innovative cycle perpetuates an unquenchable thirst for collaboration and innovation, unlocking unparalleled levels of creativity within the organisation. Through this approach, the team continues to drive the company forward, fostering a culture of continuous experimentation, meaningful experiences, and infectious excitement,” the company said.

Sinha clinched the win in the Indonesia Executive of the Year - Telecommunications category, whilst Indosat’s corporate communications team bagged the Indonesia Team of the Year - Telecommunications win.
