Dexcom Malaysia recognised at Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards 2025

The company was lauded for its Trinity Vertical Link that has revolutionised its manufacturing process.

Dexcom Malaysia won the recognition in the Automation - Healthcare Technology category at the Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards 2025, which highlighted the efficiency of its automated manufacturing system.

The groundbreaking Trinity Vertical Link has successfully integrated an automated vertical link system with robotic arms. The system features a vertical conveyor that transports products from Level 2 to Level 1, using robotic arms to simultaneously handle multiple units. The robotic arms cover an 8-metre distance to lower products to Level 1—a solution that reduces human error and injury risks whilst increasing production capacity and product quality.

This automation solution has reduced manual labour, therefore leading to substantial savings on labour costs. By eliminating manual lifting and transferring tasks, the system has enhanced workplace safety, reducing the likelihood of employee injuries and creating a more ergonomic environment.

Moreover, the system is capable of running 24/7 without fatigue, delivering a steady output of approximately 8,000 units per hour with reduced cycle times.

In terms of environmental impact, the automated process significantly reduces the need for manual cleaning of trays. This resulted in saving up to 1.5 million trays annually, which lowers the consumption of cleaning agents like IPA, contributing to a more sustainable operation and a positive environmental impact.

Furthermore, the system is integrated with the facility’s fire alarm system that allows full compartmentalisation in case of a fire. The automated system ensures swift safety measures without disrupting operations, preventing the spread of fire and smoke, and minimising risks to personnel and property.

Dexcom Malaysia opted for a phased implementation strategy for the initiative, and it began with pilot projects to test and refine the system. Through this process, the company ensured that the project met its standards first before it was scaled for full deployment.
