Boost earns recognition at Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards 2025
The company won for promoting financial responsibility amongst Malaysians with Boost PayFlex™.
Boost bagged the E-Wallet - Financial Technology category at the Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards 2025 for its commitment to promoting financial responsibility through its Shariah-compliant BNPL solution, Boost PayFlex™.
BNPL has attracted over 3 million Malaysians and is continuously growing its reach, the need for responsible financing solutions has never been greater. Many users, particularly those with limited access to traditional financing, require support in managing their cash flow without the risk of overextending themselves financially.
Aiming to provide an efficient solution to this, Boost launched Boost PayFlex™, a Shariah-compliant PayLater solution that offers flexibility in managing payments and controlled credit limits that are tailored to each user's financial situation. Users who show responsible payment behaviour can increase their credit limits by submitting Employees Provident Fund (EPF) statements. All charges are communicated to users upfront for them to understand their commitments and make informed decisions without the risk of overextending themselves financially.
A key aspect of Boost’s responsible lending approach is its policy against credit stacking. Unlike other providers, Boost PayFlex™ does not allow users to fund their accounts using credit cards, preventing potential debt accumulation and encouraging healthier financial habits.
Boost PayFlex™, which is available through the Boost eWallet app, helps individuals who may have limited access to financing or financial knowledge by providing a range of financing options. It allows users to pay in instalments for up to 9 months at over 1.8 million DuitNow QR touchpoints across Malaysia. Additionally, users can shop online or even add funds to their Boost eWallet using the Cash-in to Wallet feature, which has quickly become one of the most popular ways to use Boost PayFlex™.
Boost PayFlex™ was first introduced in 2022 as a solution for recurring bill payments. Through continuous refinement based on user behaviour and evolving market needs, it has since grown into a leading digital lender it is today. Despite entering the BNPL market later than others in Malaysia, Boost PayFlex™ has quickly become a strong contender, disbursing over RM240m and empowering more than 121,000 users to have seamless access to cash flow without burdens and manage their finances responsibly.
Boost PayFlex™ is also integrated into the Boost fintech ecosystem, complementing other financial tools, such as the Boost Beyond Card, a global dual-function prepaid card that works as both a debit and credit card. The credit option pulls funds from Boost PayFlex™, providing users with an added layer of financial flexibility at home and abroad. Boost PayFlex™ works on an open-loop system, which makes it easy for users to pay at DuitNow QR codes nationwide, eliminating the need for additional apps and ensuring maximum convenience for everyday financial transactions.
Boost remains committed to empowering Malaysians with financial solutions that align with real-world needs, ensuring that users can make informed financial decisions without unnecessary stress. By bridging accessibility with financial responsibility, Boost PayFlex™ continues to shape the future of digital financing in Malaysia.
