Citi hiring 100 roles to boost blockchain, digital assets expertise

The bank has also unveiled three new senior roles.

Citi is adding approximately 100 roles in its Institutional Clients Group and announced three new senior roles to bolster its expertise in blockchain, including the understanding of digital assets and digital currencies, the bank said.

“We intend to hire additional talent over the next several months, and will be posting roles across ICG businesses, functions, and the ICG Business Development team to centralise and provide a consistent framework, required resourcing and expertise in digital assets,” said Emily Turner, head of business development, regarding the new roles.

The roles will be based in Singapore, London, New York, and Tel Aliv.

Apart from the hiring plans, Citi also unveiled three new roles in its ICG business. Puneet Singhvi will take over the new role of Citi ICG head of digital assets beginning 1 December. Sunghvi, who most recently was head of the blockchain and digital assets of Citi Global Markets, is expected to build out the ICG Digital Assets team to identify and develop products and capabilities for digital assets.

The ICG Digital Assets team is expected to provide subject matter expertise, product development, project management and importantly outline a distinct strategy on where and how ICG should pursue digital asset opportunities including new products, new clients, and new investments, the bank said.

Citi has also appointed Shobhit Maini and Vasant Viswanathan as co-heads of Blockchain and Digital Assets for Global Markets. They will report to Citi managing director Biswarup Chatterjee, head of innovation and strategic investment.
