Magna Systems wins for UHD Outside Broadcast Truck build at Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards 2026

Magna Systems delivered a compact UHD outside broadcast vehicle with full internal processing and a strong IP backbone.

A full UHD and IP processing outside broadcast truck developed for a media organisation in Southeast Asia earned Magna Systems the award for IP Broadcast Solutions - Singapore category at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards 2026.

The project was initiated after the client identified the need to replace an ageing OB truck with a platform capable of supporting UHD production and IP workflows. Magna Systems was selected to design and build the new vehicle, which was intended to support advanced outside broadcasts, remote production requirements and interoperability with other OB operators.

Designed with full internal UHD processing, the truck incorporated UHD and HD copper and fibre interconnections to reduce cabling requirements and improve deployment efficiency during productions. It also supported HD-UHD migration and remote working capabilities over long distances.

The vehicle was equipped with 20 full UHD cameras, including 16 wired and four wireless units, alongside UHD replay and UHD super slow-motion systems. Compatibility with campus systems and integration into an on-site theatre environment were also included in the project scope, whilst the infrastructure was designed to support future expansion for larger productions and events.

According to Magna Systems Group CEO Matthew Clemesha, the company worked closely with the coachbuilder and client throughout the development process. “Our team collaborated closely with the coachbuilder and client to architect the truck from the ground up, including all electrical systems and interior finishes. We handled the technical design, importation, registration and installation and completed full configuration and commissioning with support from manufacturers and Magna group personnel,” he said.

Beyond the technical integration, the company also managed training, site testing, OB event support, and coordination with suppliers and vendors throughout the build process.

Magna Systems Director - Sales and Operations (Asia) Patrick So said the project marked a milestone for broadcast production infrastructure in the region. “This new OB truck is the first and only fully UHD and IP processing truck in Southeast Asia. It is also a particularly efficient production vehicle as a compact truck with a very powerful infrastructure and significant IP backbone. This gives the client the ability to perform the most challenging HD and UHD OBs such as global events and large UHD concerts,” he said.
