N.U.R Power Sdn. Bhd. earns recognition at Malaysia National Business Awards 2026

The company developed a structured guideline enabling solar PV self-consumption in Kulim Hi-Tech Park.

N.U.R Power Sdn. Bhd. has been recognised at the Malaysia National Business Awards 2026, receiving the Initiative Award - Energy category for its development of the Guidelines for the Connection of Solar Photovoltaic Installation for Self-Consumption in Kulim Hi-Tech Park.

The guideline establishes a structured framework that enables tenants within the park to install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for self-consumption, whilst maintaining compatibility with the existing power distribution network.

Spanning approximately 4,800 acres, Kulim Hi-Tech Park supports around 6,000 customers across industrial, commercial, and residential sectors. The park hosts high-precision industries, including semiconductor manufacturing and solar panel production, which require a stable electricity supply and strict power quality control. Electricity distribution and retail services within the park are provided by N.U.R Power Sdn. Bhd., the area’s independent utility provider.

The solar self-consumption guideline outlines the end-to-end process for tenants seeking to deploy PV systems within their premises. This includes technical requirements for system design, connection points, operational parameters, and compliance standards. It also defines how PV installations interface with the park’s internal distribution network, alongside procedures for application submission, technical evaluation, and approval.

Implementation of the guideline incorporates system impact assessments, coordination with relevant regulatory authorities, and the establishment of technical and safety standards. A standardised workflow has been introduced, requiring tenants and solar service providers to submit detailed technical documentation for review prior to grid connection. Compliance checks include capacity limits, connection configurations, and verification procedures.

Electricity generated from rooftop solar installations is utilised solely within the tenant’s premises and is not exported beyond the installation site, ensuring alignment with the park’s internal electricity distribution framework.

The initiative supports Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap, which targets 70% renewable energy capacity by 2050. Within Kulim Hi-Tech Park, the guideline provides a clear and structured pathway for tenants to adopt solar energy solutions in a controlled and sustainable manner.
