MR.D.I.Y. Indonesia honoured for executive and team excellence at Asian Management Excellence Awards 2026

The company strengthened its leadership direction and nationwide expansion capability through sustained organisational discipline over the past 24 months.

MR.D.I.Y. Indonesia was recognised with two distinctions at the Asian Management Excellence Awards 2026, earning accolades in the Indonesia Executive of the Year - Retail and Indonesia Team of the Year - Retail categories. The recognition reflects the company’s leadership evolution, expansion achievements, and operational consistency across the past two years.

Leadership that shaped organisational scale and direction

President Director Edwin Cheah was recognised for steering MR.D.I.Y. Indonesia through a period marked by network expansion, regulatory readiness, and organisational strengthening. The company reached more than 1,150 stores across 37 provinces and expanded its presence to 416 of Indonesia’s 514 cities and regencies as of Q3 2025. This broadened national coverage contributed to its 25.2% share of the home improvement retail market.

Cheah also led the organisation through its public listing on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, which became the country’s largest consumer IPO in 2024. His role involved strengthening internal controls, enhancing financial governance, and articulating the company’s long-term growth strategy to investors. The listing advanced MR.D.I.Y.’s corporate maturity and strengthened its ability to access capital for future growth.

His leadership period also saw the development of several ESG programmes, including the MSMEs Go Digital Workshop, creativity and cultural engagement initiatives, and the Circular Reuse of Packaging Waste Programme, which received regional recognition. These initiatives expanded the company’s impact beyond retail operations, supporting local communities and broader economic participation across Indonesia.

A team driving high-volume retail expansion across the archipelago

The Business Development Team of MR.D.I.Y. Indonesia received the team award for executing one of the country’s fastest large-scale retail expansion activities. Approximately 50 specialists consistently delivered an average of 20 store openings per month, contributing to the company’s nationwide footprint of 1,154 stores by Q3 2025.

Expansion extended beyond major urban centres into secondary markets such as Kotabaru, Bukittinggi, and Palopo, whilst accelerating the transition toward standalone store formats, which now represent 75% of the total network, enhancing store visibility, accessibility, and community integration.

Between 2024 and Q3 2025, the team delivered several milestones, including the openings of the 700th, 800th, 900th, 1,000th, and 1,100th stores. These achievements reflected strong cross-functional execution spanning site assessment, landlord engagement, permitting, design, and rollout.
