How stc contributes to building Bahrain’s future workforce

The company helps Bahrain’s youth to kickstart their careers through its Graduate Development Programme.

Bahrain’s Vision 2030 lays out the foundation for developing a just, thriving society in the Kingdom with opportunities for local talent and youth to excel and succeed in their respective careers. One of its targets is to support and develop talented youth throughout the course of their education.

In this regard, stc Bahrain is working directly with the government to build the nation’s future workforce in line with the digital vision for the future of the Kingdom. It has started the Graduate Development Programme in 2013 to ensure that this goal is attained whilst also tackling the decrease in employment in the telecom sector and the skill gap in the technology domain in the past decade.

The programme gives opportunities for the younger local community to excel in their fields by providing them with mentorship and guidance in support of their careers and achievements.

The youth in Bahrain are provided opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive within their fields and kickstart their careers through the programme. It also aims to contribute to the national workforce by developing the skill sets of Bahraini youth in technical areas contributing to technology and telecom.

stc Bahrain’s Graduate Development Programme features on-the-job training, interactive workshops, one on one career coaching sessions, mock interview sessions and short-term projects.

The programme also presents a strong professional development plan, which has been designed to offer graduates a learning environment with real-time exposure to the various departments in a company. An on-the-job exposure complemented by a professional individual development plan, the programme has attracted over 10,000 registrations.

stc Bahrain’s initiative has been recognised by the Ministry of Labour in the past as one of the coveted programmes contributing to developing the national workforce. Graduates who have initially joined the programme have reached managerial roles and successful positions in different organisations.

The Graduate Development Programme has also reinforced stc Bahrain’s position as a leader in talent development in the Kingdom.

The company’s commitment to building a professional pool in the country has been recognised by the Middle East Technology Excellence Awards as it receives the award in the CSR Technology - Telecommunications category.

The prestigious awards programme honours outstanding companies in the region that made exceptional contributions in pursuit of technological innovation in their respective industries.
