A step forward to banking convenience and services with AFFIN BANK’s ASDL

The company wins in this year’s Malaysia National Business Awards.

Customers rely on banks to safeguard their finances, and in some cases, even important valuables and belongings. Safe Deposit Lockers provide peace of mind for bank customers as their items are kept under tight security by the bank, and AFFIN BANK made this more convenient by becoming the first and only financial institution in Malaysia to offer an automated safe deposit locker to their clients.

As an intelligent storage system, AFFIN BANK’s Automated Safe Deposit Locker (ASDL) combines the most advanced automated technology to ensure both a secure and convenient experience for customers availing of the service. For their developments, the company received the Financial Services Award at the 2023 Malaysia National Business Awards.

The awards programme, presented by Asian Business Review, recognises the efforts and achievements of businesses in Malaysia in bringing success to their operations with the latest innovations or exceptional business decisions, and AFFIN BANK’s ASDL brings the traditional Safe Deposit Box model to the next level with a self-service robotic system.

AFFIN BANK’s ASDL utilises a revolutionary smart safety storage system that offers advanced customer identification through four multi-tiered security that uses an RFID card, biometric fingerprint identification, PIN password, and a locker key to secure belongings. This feature is complemented by fully automated security that puts all safe deposit lockers in a highly secured modular vault monitored by robotic systems, retrieving and returning the specific box upon successful customer verification.

Box sizes can now be customised as well, as AFFIN BANK allows customers to choose between M, L, or XL sizes to suit their needs, allowing more items to be stored compared to a very restrictive one-size-fits-all box that leaves customers having to carefully plan what to secure. By allowing larger sizes to be stored, AFFIN BANK’s customers can safely secure bulkier valuables from hazards and other dangers.

Previously constrained by banking hours, customers can now enjoy extended accessibility with added conveniences as operation hours are made longer even during weekends and public holidays. Customers can now also enjoy a better viewing experience as AFFIN BANK has established comfortable private viewing rooms that offer a discreet and secure environment when complete privacy is needed in handling deposited belongings.

Despite being a technological marvel filled with innovation, AFFIN BANK made sure that customers will find the ASDL and its services are easily accessible with a user-friendly terminal with an easy-to-understand interface and touchscreen that makes usage easy for anyone.

Currently, AFFIN BANK offers ASDL in two branches, which are in TRX, KL and Wisma Pelaut, Penang. Over 11 more ASDL services are under construction this year, widening the coverage of the service to as many customers in Malaysia.
