Sharjah Coop lands two wins at Middle East Technology Excellence Awards 2025
It was recognised in the Personalisation - Retail and the Big Data - Retail categories.
Supermarket chain Sharjah Coop clinched two major accolades at the prestigious Middle East Technology Excellence Awards 2025 for successfully implementing a comprehensive artificial intelligence (AI)-powered personalisation platform that has transformed engagement with its over 280,000 customers, as well as developing a powerful ecosystem that combines a multi-tasking operational tool with an AI-powered customer engagement platform.
Its AI-powered personalisation platform enables a deep understanding of customer journeys, preferences, and behaviours by integrating over 2.3 million monthly interactions from online, offline, loyalty, and marketplace sources into a unified single customer view with 94% data accuracy.
This proprietary AI system employs advanced machine learning algorithms that have revolutionised customer engagement strategy. This has driven affinity and RFM segmentation with 88% accuracy and predictive segments with 92% accuracy.
Overall, it has improved retention rates by 20% and increased customer lifetime value by 33%.
The platform has also orchestrated personalised communications across eight distinct channels, achieving standout results such as a 42% email open rate compared to the 29% industry average, 96% accuracy in preferred channel selection, a 288% improvement in engagement through optimal send-time optimisation, and a 15% reduction in unsubscribe rates via intelligent frequency capping.
The platform also leverages AI-driven content creation in Arabic and English, contributing to a 15% increase in engagement.
Business outcomes for Sharjah Coop have been substantial, including a 15x return on investment in multi-channel campaigns, a 49% rise in e-commerce revenue through connected retail strategies, a 50% reduction in customer acquisition costs, and a 10% to 30% improvement in marketing spend efficiency.
Meanwhile, innovation leadership has been demonstrated by machine learning models that process over 150 behavioural variables, a real-time decision engine capable of more than 10,000 concurrent personalisation decisions, advanced segmentation producing more than 500 micro-segments, and robust cross-channel attribution tracking.
Sharjah Coop’s success in AI-driven retail personalisation has earned them the title in the Personalisation - Retail category. It has also brought home the Big Data - Retail category for its operational precision and customer-focused engagement.
In enabling this, the company has integrated data from sales transactions, customer behaviour, inventory levels, and supplier databases across point-of-sale systems, loyalty programmes, online platforms, and vendors into a unified big data repository. This allows for real-time insights that optimise supply chains, personalise customer experiences, and support strategic growth.
At the core of this capability is its multi-tasking platform, a centralised retail operating system that transforms decision-making across units. It offers robust functionalities, including sales dynamics, assortment optimisation, supplier management, promotion intelligence, stock control, pricing & shelf execution, category adjacency & basket analysis, loyalty analytics, and personnel monitoring.
Complementing this is its Store Manager mobile app, which empowers store teams to spot and fix on-shelf issues instantly, track daily key performance indicators, compete with other stores in through gamified performance tracking, and provide live visibility to operational and regional directors.
