GASCO clinches Middle East Technology Excellence Awards 2024 for digital-first transportation solutions

The company sets new standards in operational efficiency, user experience, and strategic alignment.

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) provider GASCO was honoured with the win in the Digital - Oil & Gas category at the Middle East Technology Excellence Awards 2024 for the milestones attained by its transportation vertical, which has guaranteed the seamless and efficient delivery of materials to clients.

In the past year, the company has deployed advanced transportation management systems to manage LPG delivery from its suppliers to the plants. The total number of trips has reached an impressive 167,251, marking a significant 19% increase over 2022.

Whilst, its land transportation activities experienced a similar surge, with the total distance travelled surpassing 81 million kilometres, a remarkable 23% rise. This expansion has led to a 5% increase in the total quantity of gas transported, reaching 1,295 tons, and resulting in a corresponding 5% boost in transportation revenue.

GASCO’s transportation vertical is enabled by a digital ecosystem that serves as a model of digitalisation through transformation, optimisation, and automation. It has executed its delivery logistics requirements with a host of packaged and custom applications.

Transportation planning is then performed in the backend enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, which constitutes vehicle scheduling and routing whose central goal is to minimise transportation costs through optimised shipment planning and replanning. Fleet managers also use the Automated Vehicle Location system to monitor delivery status, as well as to intervene in case of incidents.

Meanwhile, the company has also addressed issues surrounding its manual and inefficient fleet preparation inspections with a modern application suite that consists of five seamlessly integrated apps that are integrated with the ERP system. These apps have bolstered real-time fleet status for delivery, improved efficiency and transparency, and refined insights into fleet health.

These achievements underscore GASCO's robust growth and enhanced operational efficiency in the transportation sector.
