Mohsin Hani Al-Bahrani's tenure at the helm of MHD has been distinguished by transformative projects and notable achievements that have propelled the company to new heights.

One standout accomplishment is the success in attracting world-class automotive brands to the MHD group, reinforcing the company's market position, and driving substantial growth. Moreover, his commitment to environmental responsibility materialised in the establishment of a renewable energy division, aligning with Oman's goal of becoming a sustainable state.

This article delves into the mind of Mohsin Haider Darwish, exploring his strategic initiatives, collaborative successes, and the innovative steps taken to stay ahead in the industry. Through a Q&A session, we gained insights into his leadership philosophy, the company's commitment to personalised solutions, the creation of the renewable energy division, and the significance of staying abreast of industry trends.

With your company’s leveraging of digital tools, automation, and data analytics, how do you ensure that the products and services you are delivering for clients are personalised and caters to their specific needs? Do you have any challenges or realisations in this regard?

Leveraging digital tools, automation, and data analytics is pivotal in ensuring that the products and services we deliver are personalised and tailored to our clients' specific needs. We employ advanced technologies to analyse customer preferences, behaviours, and feedback, allowing us to create customised solutions that align with their individual requirements.

That being said, we also realise the importance of maintaining a human touch amidst technological advancements. Whilst automation enhances efficiency, certain aspects of customer interaction benefit from a personal touch. Recognising this has prompted us to integrate technology seamlessly whilst preserving the personalised and human elements in our services.

The key challenge is the need for continuous adaptation to evolving technologies and staying attuned to shifting customer preferences. For this, we employ regular assessments and updates to our digital strategies to ensure we exceed client expectations in an ever-changing technological landscape.

Mohsin established the company’s renewable energy division to transform Oman into a sustainable state through pioneering renewable energy initiatives. Amidst sustainability’s greater importance in the business landscape today, what makes the creation of this division necessary? How does he plan to ensure that this division is effectively utilised?

Mohsin established the company's renewable energy division with the vision of helping transform Oman into a sustainable economy through pioneering renewable energy initiatives, in line with the goals set by the Oman Vision 2040. The creation of this division was in response to the growing importance of sustainability in today's business landscape.

Recognising the global shift towards eco-friendly practices and the increasing focus on environmental responsibility, Mohsin aimed to position MHD ACERE as a leader in driving sustainable business practices in Oman.

To ensure the effective utilisation of this division, a comprehensive strategy has been put in place - This includes forging strategic partnerships with key players in the renewable energy sector, such as ABB, a global technology leader. The collaboration with ABB involves the supply of high-power electric vehicle chargers, contributing to the promotion of electric mobility and clean energy solutions across Oman.

Furthermore, Mohsin's commitment to sustainability extends beyond internal initiatives. He actively seeks to integrate the division's services into Oman's broader sustainability goals, aligning with national strategies. This involves engaging with governmental bodies, participating in relevant projects, and contributing to the development of a green and eco-friendly ecosystem within the country.

Mohsin also stays updated with the latest trends and advancements in any industry. How does this activity help him stay on top of the market in the face of evolving trends and pressures from competitors?

Staying updated with the latest trends and advancements in any industry is crucial to remaining relevant and gaining a competitive edge. I always make it a point to attend various industry conferences, seminars, and trade shows whilst actively participating in discussions with peers. Secondly, I remain up-to-date via industry publications, newsletter subscriptions, online forums, and social media platforms, connecting with professionals and exchanging insights.

To apply knowledge, one has to remain adaptable and open-minded. I critically analyse information, evaluating its relevance to my projects and goals. I am never shy about seeking opportunities to implement innovative ideas, adopt best practices, leverage new technologies, and encourage my team to follow suit.

What does this win at the Middle East Management Excellence Awards mean for your company? How will this success boost your business?

I am obviously honoured to be considered worthy of this win. But more than that, it’s a reaffirmation of the work I have done and the impact it has had not just on our employees but also on the people at large and the nation in general. It is extremely gratifying to be acknowledged for your work and to know that you are on a good path—a path that leads to the greater good of all.
