Taiwan inks 15-year LNG supply deal with Qatar

It will buy 1.25 million tonnes of LNG annually from the company.

Taiwan state-owned CPC Corporation has entered into a 15-year Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Qatar Petroleum to purchase 1.25 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) annually.

The SPA was signed by His Excellency Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi — the minister of State for Energy Affairs and the president and chief executive officer of Qatar Petroleum — and Shun-Chin Lee — the president and acting Chairman of CPC. This was during a virtual ceremony attended by Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani, chief executive officer of Qatargas and senior officials from both sides.

Under the agreement, Taiwan will buy 1.25 million tonnes of LNG starting January 2022 for domestic consumption.

Since the first LNG delivery in March 2006 to date, CPC has received more than 63 million tonnes of LNG from Qatar.
