Offshore wind opportunity seen in APAC and Europe amidst US uncertainty

These two regions should cooperate to meet capacity goals.

Uncertainty in the US offshore wind market following the reelection of US President Donald Trump presents an opportunity for Asia Pacific (APAC) and Europe to fuel their industries.

“Trump’s election has undoubtedly reduced the confidence in parts of the offshore wind industry for some time – but we need to recognise how shifting momentum can help us turn adversity into opportunity,” said Tim Fischer, director for Ramboll’s Global Wind Division.

He said developers, investors, and OEMs are returning to their home markets, offering a chance for both regions to work together to accelerate offshore wind growth.

Collaboration between the two regions is needed to increase their volume of projects as APAC countries are still in the early stages of development, whilst Europe leads in many areas of offshore wind technology development.
