Creature Comforts expands 24-hour ‘fear-free’ animal hospital in Shau Kei Wan
The 11,000 sq ft facility introduces advanced surgical suites, a CT scan, and a new community teaching space.
Creature Comforts Veterinary Group has expanded its long-standing presence in Shau Kei Wan with the opening of a new 24-hour “fear-free” animal hospital, designed to offer a calmer, more advanced experience for pets, their owners, and veterinary professionals.
Dr David Quach, Medical Director at Creature Comforts, said the new site represents both a physical and philosophical evolution for the group, which has served the Shau Kei Wan community for over 20 years.
“This new hospital is more than double the size of our previous site — around 11,000 square feet across two floors — and marks a major step forward in how we deliver quality medicine and compassionate care,” said Dr David.
The expanded space features complete separation between cat and dog areas, with individual waiting and consultation rooms to reduce anxiety and noise. A new in-hospital lift connects the two floors, improving accessibility for clients and easing the transfer of patients and equipment between the treatment and surgical levels.

“We now have a dedicated soundproof cat ward with one-way ventilation, so cats do not smell or hear the dogs,” said Dr David. “Larger consultation rooms also give families and big dogs the option to be examined on the floor instead of tables — which helps prevent table-related stress.”
Creature Comforts’ new facility is strategically located on the east side of Hong Kong Island, serving as a key link between East Island, Tseung Kwan O, and the South Side, where pet ownership rates are high.

“It’s an important position for us,” Dr David explained. “We’re now able to provide round-the-clock emergency care to families who previously needed to travel to central Hong Kong.”
Beyond its client-facing improvements, the hospital introduces specialist-level capabilities, reflecting Creature Comforts’ transition toward advanced veterinary medicine.

The site houses three purpose-built operating theatres, including an orthopaedic suite for complex procedures such as spinal and intrathoracic surgeries, alongside a CT scan room and blood-bank services for emergency and peer-to-peer support.
“Creature Comforts has always been a general practice veterinary service, but we are now expanding into advanced care,” said Dr David. “With upcoming specialist services in surgery and internal medicine, our new hospital allows us to provide the kind of multidisciplinary care once limited to referral centres.”
Technology also plays a central role in the design. The hospital runs on cloud-based medical records and digital imaging systems, enabling the team to share cases instantly across the CCVG network and with global specialists for rapid second opinions.

At the heart of the hospital is a teaching and community room — Dr David’s personal favourite — that reflects the brand’s commitment to education and preventive care.
“It’s similar to a corporate meeting room, but for us, it is a space to teach and connect,” he said. “We use it for renal-care workshops, senior-pet education, and puppy socialisation classes — supporting both our clients and the wider veterinary community.”
Creature Comforts’ new hospital embodies the group’s values of quality medicine, teamwork, and community care — combining modern medical standards with a welcoming, fear-free environment.
“Our goal is to make advanced, compassionate veterinary care accessible to every pet family,” said Dr David. “This new hospital is a big step in that direction.”
