Hang Seng Bank Limited takes home Hong Kong Partner Experience of the Year - Banking at Asian Experience Awards 2024

The Bank bagged the honour for its innovation ecosystem which includes partnerships with policymakers, innovation promotors, innovation companies, SMEs, investors, and academia. 

Hang Seng Bank was hailed the winner of the Hong Kong Partner Experience of the Year - Banking category at the Asian Experience Awards 2024. The awards recognised the Bank for its innovation ecosystem that has fostered the growth of Hong Kong’s innovation sector and solidified its leading role in the innovation landscape.

Key achievements

Hang Seng has become a key player in Hong Kong's innovation ecosystem after it formed strategic partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders. These collaborations have created a vibrant, collaborative environment that fosters growth and development.

The Bank has established connections with over 2,200 innovation companies, offering them crucial resources, mentorship, and investment opportunities. Hang Seng has also been connecting with more than 100,000 SMEs by helping them adopt new technologies, which has then enhanced their business operations. 

On top of these, the Bank expanded its ecosystem with influential innovation promoters and investors, enabling itself to launch over 10 accelerator programmes, adopt cutting-edge solutions, and collaborate with high-potential innovation companies.

Unique partnership approach

Hang Seng's partnership strategy is distinguished by its holistic innovation ecosystem, from policy alignment to innovation company support and SME empowerment.

Concerning policy alignment, Hang Seng actively supports Hong Kong's innovation policy agenda by participating in initiatives like the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) development and the Fintech Proof of Concept (PoC) Scheme.

In supporting innovation companies, the Bank provides tailored support at various stages of their growth, including the adoption of solutions within its offices and branches. This approach addresses issues related to product development, market entry, and scaling challenges. 

Hang Seng further fosters empowerment through its InnoClub platform, a platform co-created with its strategic partners, which offers education and resources to SMEs. Tens of events were arranged, which aided SMEs in adopting innovative technologies and staying competitive in their respective markets.

Amongst the significant achievements the Bank has realised are the enhanced operational efficiency, expanded market position, and its contribution to Hong Kong’s innovation system. 

Looking ahead

Amidst its position as a key player in the industry, Hang Seng has no room for complacency. It makes it a point that its partnership approach remains dynamic and adaptable. The Bank ensures this through geographic expansion in which it extends its partnerships beyond Hong Kong into other cities in the Greater Bay Area and explores new markets and opportunities for growth.
