Progresif receives top employee experience award at Asian Experience Awards
This is for the company’s STAR system and employee-centred efforts.
For prospective employees, choosing an ideal workplace goes beyond being offered a good position and an attractive salary. Just as important are the benefits offered by the company for employee welfare and development.
Progresif Sendirian Berhad has been recognising employee efforts and has incorporated them into the core of its business. Amongst the new highlights of its improved employee relations is the STAR reward system, launched on 1 October 2020, which allows co-workers to vote amongst themselves who deserve recognition.
Under the STAR system, each Progresif employee will be given 15 STARs every six months. They can then give these to any colleague they feel is deserving of praise.
There are currently seven types of STARs.
Included in the performance-based STARs is The Standout Performer which is awarded for those who constantly give their best and is the most suitable candidate as team leader or manager. Next is The Workhorse which is given to those who perform above and beyond their capabilities ensuring maximum productivity and have been shown to be dependable, steady, and responsible.
Completing this subcategory is the Captain Customer-Centric responsible for acquiring and retaining clients, thus awarded for offering the best customer service.
Under the behaviour-based STARs, there is The Communicator who is lauded for building relationships and networks, and the Passion for Progress award for those who work relentlessly and maintain a high standard of personal achievements.
There is also The Innovator which is given to those who are dedicated to learning and development, and The Collaborator for the employees who display extraordinary integrity and generosity towards team members and other divisions.
For this remarkable system, Progresif was awarded in the recently concluded Asian Experience Awards for “Brunei Employee Experience of the Year - Telecommunications”. The prestigious award-giving body recognises the ingenious initiatives of creative companies delivering meaningful brand experiences to their stakeholders in all industries in Asia.
The mechanics for co-workers to vote amongst themselves is remarkable in itself. Here, everyone is assigned a QR code and a unique ID number. They can then scan their peers’ QR codes and fill-up the form that is prompted to them.
Prizes await recipients that garnered the most stars. For the 1st place winner, a STAR Value worth $800 is awarded. The range of prizes are progressively distributed, with the lowest ranks of 11th to 15th ranks awarded with $150 STAR Value. These are complemented by other perks such as gym membership, vouchers, appliances, and other packages.
According to the company, the project was launched to promote the shift from “recognition from top” to “360 recognition” which enables recognition to come from all directions and from all levels of the company.
The main target for the initial stage of six months was to ensure that employees were using it. Out of approximately 150 people in the company, Round 1 recorded 1,326 STARs for 146 different recipients. Round 2, which has 2 months left, is currently recorded to have 1,052 STARs.
There are plans to further digitise the way the program is administered such as introducing a live leaderboard. Progresif is also already in the planning stages of Phase II of its STAR system.
