Seatrium to build 5,000-tonne heavy lift vessel in Japan
The project will mark Seatrium’s entry into the Japanese offshore wind market.
Seatrium was awarded the contract to engineer, procure, and construct a 5,000-tonne fully revolving heavy lift vessel for the Japanese offshore wind market from Penta-Ocean Construction (POC).
The vessel is POC’s fifth and largest addition to its fleet. It will enable the company to undertake larger wind turbine projects in offshore wind construction.
The value of the contract was not disclosed.
“This project is significant on various fronts, marking our maiden collaboration with Penta-Ocean and our entry into the Japanese offshore wind market. We are deeply honored to develop a heavy lift vessel with one of the world’s highest lifting capacities, further building on our track record of delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions to accelerate the energy transition,” William Gu, executive vice president of Seatrium Energy (International) said.
