5G to drive Taiwan mobile revenue to $6.9b by 2030
Premium mobile data services are forecast to offset declining voice revenue.
Taiwan's mobile services revenue is projected to increase to $6.9b in 2030 from $6.3b in 2025, supported by rising 5G subscriptions and the adoption of premium mobile data services, according to GlobalData.
Its Taiwan Mobile Broadband Forecast (Q1 2026) projects the market could grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 1.8% over the forecast period.
Mobile data services revenue is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.1%, driven by higher adoption of high-ARPU 5G services.
Mobile voice services revenue could decline, however, at a CAGR of 9.9% as voice ARPU falls amidst consumers' growing preference for over-the-top internet-based communication platforms.
Pradeepthi said average monthly mobile data usage will increase from 35.8 gigabytes (GB) in 2025 to about 43.5 GB in 2030, driven by growing consumption of high-bandwidth online entertainment and social media content on smartphones.
5G subscriptions already account for the majority of mobile subscriptions in Taiwan and are projected to exceed 94% by 2030, supported by wider adoption of 5G-enabled smartphones and ongoing network expansion by operators.
“For instance, Taiwan Mobile extended a deal with Nokia in July 2026 to expand 5G services in the country,” GlobalData cited.
Pradeepthi said Chunghwa led the mobile services market by subscription share in Taiwan as of 2025, with Taiwan Mobile and FarEasTone trailing behind.
He added that Chunghwa is expected to retain its market leadership through 2030, supported by continued 5G network expansion, flexible pricing plans, and value-added services such as music, television, movies, and cloud gaming.
