AIA Investment Management (Thailand) Limited wins at Asian Experience Awards 2026

AIA Investment Management (Thailand) Limited won Thailand Product Experience of the Year - Financial Services in the Asian Experience Awards 2026 for its AIA Global Active Income Fund.

The company developed the solution under the AIA Elite Income Prestige in response to a growing challenge facing Thailand’s ageing society, which is the need for sustainable retirement income. Whilst most unit linked products traditionally focused on wealth accumulation and capital growth, limited solutions effectively addressed the income needs of policyholders who seek regular cash flow alongside insurance protection.

To bridge this gap, the company introduced an income-focused solution that combines investment growth, predictable cash flow, and life protection within a single proposition. Drawing on global income-investing best practices, the fund structure was adapted to Thailand’s mutual fund framework. This created a transparent and sustainable mechanism for income distribution, which helps overcome the limitations of traditional dividend-based funds whilst providing policyholders with a clearer source of retirement income.

At the heart of the solution is a disciplined approach to external fund manager selection and top-down asset allocation. This investment process actively adjusts portfolios in response to evolving market conditions and emerging global investment opportunities. Through continuous monitoring, rigorous oversight, and timely portfolio rebalancing, customers benefit from institutional-quality portfolio management.

The globally diversified multi-asset fund generates sustainable income through a combination of underlying fund distributions. Since inception, the fund conducted auto-redemptions six times (as of June 2026) whilst maintaining its investment strategy and long-term growth objectives. From a total return perspective, it balanced income generation and capital growth whilst supporting both the accumulation and decumulation phases of an investor’s journey.

Just over one year after launch, the fund achieved significant growth in assets under management. This growth reflects strong investor confidence in its retirement income proposition and investment management approach. The initiative generated meaningful business and customer impact by helping address the retirement income gap in Thailand, empowering agents with a comprehensive financial planning proposition, and establishing a new category of income-and-protection solutions within the unit-linked market.
